Abstract
ASE devices were fabricated in erbium doped-low index difference alumina ridge waveguides. Simulations modeling results matched current waveguide performance. It was shown that with lower scattering losses of 0.3 dB/cm that is being realized, a compact 30-50 cm long 1 mW-ASE waveguide source can be constructed.
