Abstract
An analytical model has been derived for cantilever beam deflection. The cantilever beams, made of multiple laminates, are composed of five distinct layers: two layers of piezoelectric material sandwiched between three layers of electrically conducting material. The electrically conducting layers act as electrodes surrounding the piezoelectric layers. Optimization of the deflection model would help researchers better mechanically simulate ciliary motion.
