Abstract

Radiosurgery involves the focal administration of conformal ionising radiation to a diseased tissue. The conformal nature of the radiation delivered limits injury to surrounding non-target tissue. Radiosurgery is an important treatment option in neurooncology with wide ranging clinical applications in the treatment of benign and malignant brain tumours. The foundations, imaging and applications of radiosurgery in neurooncology are discussed in this chapter.
