Abstract
Two unusual cases are described in which the filter was inadvertently placed into the azygous vein in the first case and the ascending lumbar vein in the second. A similar finding in both cases were hepatic masses, causing significant rotation of the heart, compression of the inferior vena cava (IVC) as it entered the right atrium, and subsequent dilation of the azygous vein or ascending lumbar vein serving as sources of collateral drainage.
