Abstract
Andersen uses the North, and Sweden in particular, to build an artistic bridge transcending existential differences. This bridge creates a link between the realistic description and subjective realisation of the self, and the ensuing fragmentation of reality threatens the integrity of the self. Discourse and style, in so far as they are both absence and distance, open the door to the Otherness, and the contact is humanized so as to represent what could also exist.
