Abstract

The introduction of super-peers into peer-to-peer systems will improve the query efficiency, but the introduction of centralized points will depress the availability of the systems as well. The countermeasures normally adopted nowadays are increasing redundant edges at peers in clusters. In this paper, an information flow analysis model is provided first, and the homogeneous and heterogeneous super-peer systems are analyzed theoretically based on this model. Secondly, the system availability of the redundant structure in super-peer systems is optimized based on the analyzing results. The experimental results depict that the system availability can be improved with a high degree even with larger cluster-scale, it can be larger than 0.95 when the availability of each peer is 0.7.
