Abstract
This study introduces an improved deadbeat control strategy for induction motor-based electric vehicle applications, designed to overcome the limitation of traditional techniques by targeting reduced torque ripple, improved response time, and minimized losses under dynamically varying drive cycles. Traditional Field-Oriented Control (FOC) without feed-forward decoupling results in slower response and higher losses. While FOC with feed-forward decoupling improves speed response, it still suffers from significant losses, particularly during transient conditions. This paper introduces an enhanced deadbeat control that integrates a loss-minimizing algorithm, particularly suitable for dynamically varying speed and torque conditions. Through detailed simulation studies, this approach highlights how it can overcome the shortcomings of traditional control methods, while still meeting the required torque and speed demands of the drive.
