Abstract

A new arbitrary reference configuration (ARC) elasticity theory is proposed in the paper with the attempt to circumvent the deficiencies associated with the present use of hyperelasticity and hypoelasticity theories for finite deformation analysis. The corresponding stress update formulation is also developed. Some numerical examples are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed underlying theory and computational formulations.
