Abstract
Traditional methods of beam steering of antennas have used phase as the primary variable. The intent of this research work is to revisit the idea of using amplitude rather than phase or mechanical motion to steer the beam and explore it as a possibility for some of today's needs. An overview of the concept along with simulation results are presented here. A comparison is made with a normal array steered with phase shifters and the results are presented. Further this method ensures higher interference tolerance from the individual antennas while maintaining comparable Gain.
