Abstract
We present experimental results and design guidelines for optical modulators and interconnects based on metallo-dielectric plasmonic structures. The short wavelengths and high field confinements of surface plasmon polaritons at the metal/dielectric interfaces allow for the manipulation and guidance of optical signals in very compact and power-efficient devices, amenable to ultra-large scale integration of onchip optical functionalities.
