Abstract
Problems inherent in the earlier algorithm resulted in occasional misranked contingency cases. The new algorithm gives results which are essentially equivalent to a ranking based on the results of a dc load flow of each case, only at a fraction of the calculation time. A complete derivation, test results and applications are given.
