Abstract
The uptake of monofluorophosphate (MFP) by hydroxyapatite can be considerably increased by use of coupled diffusion fluxes. The increases in uptake confirm that the rate of incorporation of MFP is a diffusion controlled process. The rate enhancement can be estimated from independent diffusion and solubility measurements. The conditions that should be used for optimal uptakes are discussed.
