A new UCP1-independent thermogenic mechanism in peroxisomes

Research output: Contribution to journalComment/debatepeer-review

Abstract

In a recent publication in Nature , Liu et al. report a UCP1-independent thermogenic mechanism in which peroxisomes generate heat in brown adipose tissue through active synthesis and oxidation of monomethyl branched-chain fatty acids (mmBCFAs) derived from branched-chain amino acids.
