Abstract

This report describes the preparation and characterization of a new class of fluoropolymers by a selective, mild, and quantitative fluorination of model polydienes with difluorocarbene (:CF2). Focus is on the thermolysis of hexaflouropropylene oxide (HFPO) as a :CF2 precursor. As substrates, model polydienes prepared by anionic polymerization with well-defined molecular weight, backbone regiochemistry, and molecular weight distribution are used.
