Abstract

We have investigated the aging of (RE)Ba2Cu3O7-x thin films using a grand canonical ensemble Monte Carlo simulation of the asymmetric next nearest neighbor Ising (ASYNNNI) model. The effect of aging is a reduction in oxygen content and hole concentration. Discrepancies exist in the calculated and experimentally observed hole concentrations, suggesting that the superconductor-insulator (S-I) transition in these films to be a mobility transition rather than being due to a reduction in the number of carriers.
