N2 - A general analytical derivation of the three dimensional (3D), semi-empirical, Pennes' bioheat transfer equation (BHTE) is presented by conducting the volume averaging of the 3D conduction energy equation for an arbitrarily vascularized tissue. The derivation gives an explicit and simple relationship relating the Pennes' blood-tissue heat transfer rate related term Wc p(T t - T bl) to the local vascular temperature distribution.
