Abstract
We report the synthesis and characterization of trans-Pt(p-CN-C 6H 4-C 2H 5) 2(CN) 2 and compare the properties to the previously reported cis isomer, cis-Pt(p-CN-C 6H 4-C 2H 5) 2(CN) 2. These geometric isomers exhibit textbook differences in spectroscopic and vapochromic properties, especially in the solid-state.
