Abstract
Amides of 2-iodoxybenzenesulfonic acid were prepared by the dioxirane oxidation of the corresponding 2-iodobenzenesulfamides and isolated as stable, microcrystalline products. These new representatives of the pseudocyclic hypervalent iodine compounds can selectively oxidize benzyl alcohols to aldehydes.
