Project Details

Description

This is an on-going project that aren't funded yet. I'm working with Gustavo H. Merten to continuously monitor the water balance (e.g., inflow rate, outflow rate, and soil moisture content) of one green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) on the UMD campus. One goal is to understand how does the water balance of the GSI vary temporally due to the freeze-thaw cycles and application of de-icing salts. Another goal is to study how does this GSI impact the flow, temperature and water quality of the west branch of Tischer Creek. So far, the project is in preparation. Monitoring will be initiated in the spring 2024.
