Project Details

Layman's description

We evaluated a subset of dogs arriving at the humane society from within Minnesota and dogs arriving from other states and countries to determine whether they had previously been exposed to canine brucellosis.

Key findings

Antibodies to brucella canis in the canine population that enters the Minnesota Humane Society were found at very low frequency. Routine screening for canine brucellosis in dogs entering humane societies in Minnesota is probably not cost-effective.
