Professional Information

Stephen Monson Geerts is a Senior Geologist within the Mining, Minerals and Metallurgy Group at the Natural Resources Research Institute, Duluth. He currently manages the Mineralogy Laboratory located at the Coleraine NRRI and the Minerals Characterization Division within the Duluth group. Mr. Monson Geerts has over 30 years of applied research experience in northeastern Minnesota with igneous geology and petrography of economic deposits within the Duluth Complex; mineral characterization and particulate matter characterization related to the taconite industry; and hydrogeologic and environmental experience in regards to mineland reclamation and drainage. He is also a Registered Geologist in the state of Minnesota.
