Personal profile
Kathryn is a regional educator for volunteer systems based at UROC in North Minneapolis. She works to build the capacity of caring adults to work effectively with young people and create programs that foster sparks and social-emotional learning so all young people can thrive. She serves on the regional and statewide volunteer systems teams and the regional and state diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility teams. She is committed to expanding the diversity of the Extension Center for Youth Development programs through efforts such as the anti-racism collective, statewide and regional diversity learning cohorts, and the cultural exchange program she piloted.
She led the development of many civic engagement and youth leadership clubs and experiences focused on engaging traditionally under-served communities, especially immigrant communities. Her graduate research in human geography focused on immigration and social movements. Through 4-H, Kathryn seeks to provide opportunities for youth to discover their own passions and to enlarge their sense of what is possible in life.
