Training Experience
Jolene Hyppa-Martin completed her PhD at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis with her mentor Professor Joe Reichle. Dr Hyppa-Martin's area of focus is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Her research interests include social inclusion of individuals with severe communication disorders, dementia and mild cognitive impairment, diversity and equity in speech-language pathology, and the clinical applications of single case experimental designs to generate internal evidence that can inform data-driven, low-inference interventions.
Teaching
Dr Hyppa-Martin has more than 15 years of teaching experience within the University of Minnesota system, including more than decade teaching courses related to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
During her time at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, she developed and taught three modular courses on AAC for the Department of Educational Psychology and also taught the AAC course for the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences.
Dr Hyppa-Martin has prepared and taught more than a dozen different courses for the University of Minnesota system and has had extensive training and experience teaching in-person, online asynchronous, and remote live at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
