Isabel has a background in community education, focused in art and language with institutions including the Fulbright Association and Saint Paul Public Schools, and currently serves as a regional Leadership and Civic Engagement Educator with University of Minnesota Extension. She has a B.A. in Theater from the College of Saint Benedict -- the cite of a former mission school -- and a Master of Human Rights degree with a concentration in the political ecology of education from the University of Minnesota. Her Master's research focused on implementing Indigenous research methodologies in land grant university education. 

Research interests

Isabel's research interests include implementing Indigenous and diverse ways of knowing in education as a means to decolonize/Indigenize institutions, interrogating policing and community safety, as well as increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice in White and rural communities in Minnesota. She contends with queer ecologies, political ecologies, and education within movement spaces.
