🎓 PhD Opening — Mechanics and Physics of Materials<br/><br/>A fully funded PhD position is available in the group of Prof. Hudson Borja da Rocha at the University of Minnesota (CEGE, College of Science and Engineering) . We are seeking motivated students interested in the broad areas of solid mechanics, physics, applied mathematics, and computational mechanics.<br/><br/>We combine theory, computation, and experiments to understand how materials—both living and inert—deform, fail, and evolve.<br/><br/>🔬 Research Areas:<br/>– Fracture and damage in soft and composite materials<br/>– Statistical physics of failure, growth &amp; active matter<br/>– Mechanics of biological and bio-inspired systems<br/><br/>💡 Ideal candidate: Curious, creative, and motivated student with strong background in mechanics, physics, or applied math.
