Research interests

At Extension's Center for Community Development, Ellen works with communities across the state to navigate social, civic, and cultural opportunities and challenges. Before joining Extension, Ellen held positions with Wilder Research and Hennepin County where she collaborated with organizations in the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota to conduct community-engaged research projects related to education, social services, public health, and demography. Ellen's research focuses on the interdependence of rural and urban communities. Ellen hosts the Side by Side podcast, which explores the complex and necessary rural and urban relationship.
